Our team met that challenge by combining pre-game interviews and old game footage with heart pounding action captured from four camera angles."

“My sample [of short films] reveals the entire entertainment spectrum,” claimed Carkeet. “The level of creative talent and technical expertise greatly differed from film to film, but I feel safe to say that every team maximized their abilities throughout the production process.”  

The NFC staff will post the finalists on its Web site in December. There, visitors may watch the top films and vote for their favorites. Carkeet believes that audiences “are in for a treat.” 

“I don't know how my award nominees will fair against those chosen by the other judges, but rest assured [the audience] will see the best of the best.”

For two nights only, 26 teams from the Orlando 48 Hour Film Project will see their stories come to life on the big screen. Both events kick off at Premiere Cinemas inside the Orlando Fashion Square Mall (3201 E. Colonial Dr. Orlando, FL 32803-5140) on Wednesday, Aug. 19 and Thursday, Aug. 20, at 7:00 pm. Immediately following each screening, all attendees are invited to the Red Star Tavern, also situated at the Orlando Fashion Square Mall, for the post-premiere celebrations. Those with ticket stubs from the screenings may take advantage of drink and appetizer specials.

A panel of judges—handpicked from Central Florida’s thriving digital media industry—will choose Orlando's best film. The winning team will then compete for top honors at Filmapalooza, the 48 Hour Film Project’s annual movie extravanganza made in part by the 2010 NAB Show.
